Ffos Las Racecourse - First Race |

 Ffos Las Racecourse stood up to the mark and staged its first event on Thursday 18th June with a 10,000 strong crowd.
The National Hunt and Flat turf track, located in Carmarthenshire between Carway and Trimsaran, is the first venue in West Wales to host professional horse races for more than 80 years and the first new turf racecourse to have been opened in the UK since 1928. Walters UK acted as principle contractor on the racecourse and associated infrastructure. Construction work started in June 2006 and was completed to programme ahead of the first race. David Thursfield, one of the directors of Ffos Las Ltd and gave particular thanks, on behalf of Ffos Las Limited, to those within the Walters UK team for an “outstanding and splendid performance on the project”. Eugene Travers Jones (former Atkins Director, and now MD of wL2) gave praise to the Engineering team “Just a short note to say congratulations on delivering a fantastic national facility at Ffos Las”.
