Walters UK is pleased to announce their successful award as Principal Contractor for the primary infrastructure at Parc Derwen, South Wales. Our conforming proposal provided cost saving initiatives and improvements to the designed scheme.

Parc Derwen comprises 85 hectares of land to the north east of Bridgend. The area will ultimately serve 1,500 dwellings and associated facilities including a small shopping centre and a primary and nursery school. The development is a joint venture between the Welsh Assembly Government and a consortium made up of Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey.

The first phase infrastructure works, commissioned by Persimmon Homes and designed by Parsons Brinckerhoff are scheduled for completion by 14th May 2010. The works include:

  • Primary Loop Road including all associated services
  • Spine Roads and associated services
  • Pedestrian footbridge
  • Drainage
  • Underground storm attenuation and balancing ponds
