Contract Details

Walters UK were appointed by Alstom Power Ltd to undertake all highway construction, finishing works and landscaping in connection with the construction of the new 1 Billion Euro KA26 combined cycle gas turbine power station in Pembroke. The Client is RWE Npower plc and upon completion in 2012 the turnkey project will deliver a capacity of 2165 MW into the National Grid.

The Walters UK contract, valued at £4 million, commenced in February 2011 and will be completed at the end of October 2011.

Our 20 strong management team are working collaboratively with Alstom Power Ltd to ensure delivery of the high quality works demanded by the fast track turnkey programme that has an operational team peaking at over 80 skilled operatives.

The scope of works undertaken includes: -     

  • Over 3 kilometres of highway infrastructure, associated ducting and surface water drainage.
  • Over 11 kilometres of street lighting ducts
  • Site wide storm drainage
  • Site perimeter CCTV ducting and foundations
  • Site wide structural concrete plinths and ramp works
  • Over 15,000 m3 of earthworks
  • Miscellaneous specialist contracting support including GRP laminating; structural debris netting; specialist metalwork; pre-cast concrete pipe work trestles; ancillary buildings and block work
  • All works are undertaken in a high security site environment
  • Stringent risk management and permit controls are in place to avoid extensive underground electrical services up to 400 KV
